TrackMaster

TrackMaster is a procedural rhythm game that makes playable prompt charts based on user-supplied audio files. This is an alpha build intended for testing the concept of the game. I may add more modes or change the ones that are in the game now. Feel free to leave feedback!

Currently supports many basic audio formats (MP3, OGG, WAV etc) and the following video game music formats: NSF/NSFE (NES), SPC (SNES), GBS (GameBoy), PSF family (PlayStation and PlayStation 2)

Current modes:

1. Wayfarer: Hit triggers as they flow into the screen from one side. There are holds and pairs
2. Steppin': Another familiar mode about activating directional prompts. Should need little explanation
3. Slide: Catch the triggers with a moving target as they fall from the top of the game screen. It might evoke playing a toy guitar

Notes:

• Controller strongly recommended, though keyboard support is built-in and documented
• Help is available in the app
• You can download the app and run it locally - be sure to read the included instructions
• The app works completely offline. All song processing happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere at any time

Planned features:

• Multiplayer
• Mode: "Band," a mode that allows multiple modes to by played against the same song concurrently, for multiplayer and player-vs-CPU gameplay
• Support for more game music formats (Genesis, N64 etc)
• Support for tracker formats (MOD etc)
• Theme editor

Alpha scope:

• This is a prototype. It may have problems or be incomplete in some areas
• The final game will not be a web app, it will be built in a game engine that allows us to use 3D, particle effects, etc and possibly more powerful song analysis
• Support for streaming music services will not be added or considered due to licensing concerns. I'm just not opening that can of worms so please don't ask
